Welcome to
Vectis Rugby Football Club Minis. I hope that you’ll consider
joining us. Rugby is a great equalizer in sport, there are plenty
of roles to suit different skills. The emphasis in the Minis
is fun, teamwork, discipline and more fun; plus the children
get the chance to meet children from different clubs all over
the region and to host their own rugby festival every April
where teams come from far and wide to participate.
The Minis comprise approximately
80 children, boys & girls, from age 5 to 11 and meets every
Sunday at the Isle of Wight Rugby Club at Wootton. Children
from 5 are allowed to train but not allowed to play in matches
until they are 6. These are RFU rules. The players in the Under
7's and 8's play tag rugby and the players begin contact training
from the Under 9's. This is taken one step at a time with the
emphasis on safety and preparation. All training takes place
at this site but matches are played throughout the Hampshire
region. As a community club of the London Irish, we were able
to arrange a training camp this summer for U8’s and over.
This was a huge success and greatly enjoyed by all the participants.
The club arranges transportation to matches
and subsidises the costs. Match strip is provided by the club
(courtesy of our sponsors), but boots and training wear are
the responsibility of parents. The club has a large selection
of second-hand boots that parents are welcome to, providing
they are put back when they have been outgrown.
The Clubhouse at Wootton provides
refreshments for Sunday morning training which starts at 10:30am.
Food is provided for home and away players on Home Match days

U9’s 8 to 9 (must be under 9 on the 1st September -School

U10’s 9 to 10 (must be under 10 on the 1st September -
School Year 5)
U11’s 10 to 11 (must be under 11 on the 1st September
- School Year 6)
U12’s 11 – 12 (must be under 12 on the 1st September
– School Year 7)
