Vectis RFC in conjunction with England Rugby held 4 summer camps throughout August to promote and develop junior rugby on the Island. The camps proved to be a great success with as many as 38 players in attendance both girls and boys. The summer camps were designed to challenge, develop and allow the players to enjoy non contact rugby through adaptive games.
Please see below comments made from both the players and parents of the summer camps;
"Thanks so much to you and Damien for putting so much time and effort into the Vectis Rugby summer school. My son attended all the sessions, enjoyed every minute and was so chuffed to be awarded a 'player of the day' medal at one of your sessions - he has been proudly showing it off around family and friends ever since. It was such a good way for the junior Vectis players to be able to keep in touch over the summer break, especially as they are scattered all over the Island, and go to different schools - often only catching up once a week during training. A great opportunity too for new players to get a taster of Vectis Rugby - I think we'll see some very promising new recruits to the U13s this September as a result of your sessions."
Just wanted to say a huge thank you. My son loved his RFU training and has learned a lot over the last four weeks. He is now kitted out and ready to start with Vectis in 10 days. The rugby training has been one of the highlights of his summer. And great goodie bag thanks - excellent t-shirt. We are so impressed. Could you please make sure we are on your mailing list for any future training camps on the island please. He is most definitely rugby mad. Thanks again for all your efforts, has made a big difference to his confidence and reinforced his love of rugby.
Thanks to all at Vectis RFC, Ventnor RFC for hosting and Damien for coaching too.
