Further success for under 14s.
Rain holds off for visitors to Ventnor
Vectis under 14s came up against a much improved portsmouth side than the one played pre Christmas away. The visitors were unable to travel with a full squad and so the Vectis lads swapped in and out of either team, demonstrating the core values and behaviours that we have come to expect from this young side.
opened the score with a well wojked try, easily converted by Joe Nelson
, swiftly followed by speedster, Max Henley
with another converted try.
shortly into the second half, Thomas Smith, on loan, took a lovely pass from the Portsmouth winger to cross the line, accompanied by a certain amount of barracking from his vetcis team mates.
Vectis scired a further two tries courtesy of prop, Dan Lythgoe and a secnd score for Hugo Jolliffe
, bring the score to 26-7.
However, with only moments remaining, with great enthusiasm, Thomas Smith crossedthe line again for Portsmouth to bring the final score 26-14.
Unsurprisingly, Portsmouth named Smith their man of the match, whilst the vectis coaching team singled out Hooker Paddy Kearney
and Winger Jake Johnson
for greatly improved performances and named Louis Wyatt
as man of the match in only his 3rd appearence. His tackling in particular was outstanding said Head Coach, Ollie Kearney.
