Three way fixture a success with one win and one loss
positive performance for under 13s despite low numbers
The u13's travelled for a 3 way fixture with fareham heathens and hosts Gosport with confidence following last weeks win over Trojans . With not quite enough to field a full team Gosport lent them a few players to fill the gaps and many vectis players were playing out of position finding it difficult at times especially Harvey wheeler having a great game playing hooker for the first time . This said they soon got going and some storming runs from Charlie Magnursson offloading to Ethan Reynard soon put the opposition on the back foot ,the lightning footwork of Ryan Tucker flying down the wing soon put points on the board .Ollie Smallwood and James Biles repeatedly breaking the gain line with true grit set some great ball for the ever present Charlie and Ethan . Despite the textbook tackling skills of Gabe Osborne Gosport managed to run in 1 more try than vectis in the last few minutes . With a couple of minutes break Vectis kicked off again playing Fareham Heathens this time the constant battering rams of Magnursson and Reynard was too much for the opponents and 2 consecutive tries were scored to the good , Fareham managed to pull one back in the second half but the whole vectis team dug in for the last 5 mins and scored the last try of the match . It was a day of great teamwork and fine rugby that did vectis proud !
